From Foliage to Fluval Aquariums - Fabulous Fall Time Decorations to Implement

Image
Today's post brought to you by guest Blogger , Sierra.... Fall time is truly an enchanting season to celebrate and with each passing day it's impossible not to cherish the simple elements that make fall time what it is. You may associate fall time with hot apple cider, beautiful tree leaves that fall to the ground, or creating new memories with friends. No matter what fall time means to you, it's also a great time to decorate your home with fall time festive decorations. Here are some ideas that you may want to consider implementing into your home and in the process create a fabulous fall time interior that's ravishing. Fluval aquariums may be the last thing on your mind to implement into your interior during fall time, but the truth is an aquarium is calming and will remind you of spring and summer days to come, especially after fall and winter fade away. If you're in need of some serenity after a hectic day at work or simply enjoy listening to the sound of water i...

Swedish Style Interior - White & Bright

Image
Sharing a white, bright, stylish apartment in Sweden.  White walls and vaulted ceilings always create an immense feeling of space and are fabulous for showing off artwork. Unlike some white interiors appearing rather clinical, the designer has added personality and warmth by adding the Persian rug with its rich colours and pattern.. The accent cushions, aged leather pouffe (footstool), and other leather furnishings balance the overall look.  Who would have thought, stacked magazines and a medley of pictures could end up a stylish corner (image 3). This lovely interior has personality and order, and for me is a winner! Inspiration From The Blogasphere Wk 10 - Interiors, Upcycling, Recipes

This week has been a long week of back and forth to mums, still sorting out but also sanding and painting. The house is really starting to look refreshed, I'm replacing old floral wallpapers with a fresh, clean neutral paint, Resene Ricecake, and painting mouldings, skirting and ceilings in alabaster. I used these colours for my own home too. These neutral whites with a touch of warmth help create a sense of  light and space and are perfect background for hanging artworks.  I'm still struggling parting with a lot of mums possessions but this week made a break through sending 5 more huge bags of clothing to the Mercy Hospice shop as Mercy were so wonderful to both of us the past few years, without their help I don't know what I would have done. I also have two bags for the SPCA (Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals). Mum loved animals and I know she will have felt good about contributing to this worthy cause too. Consequently this week to prepare this post I'v...

Inspiration From The Blogasphere Week 9 - Interiors, DIY, Recipes & More

Image
Sorry I didn't get around to posting any Inspiration last week, I've been hectically trying to re-decorate my mums house. It's been extremely difficult as I first had to pack up all mums belongings and now there are dozens of boxes scattered around her house (just not ready to part with them all yet), and were having to work around them which isn't easy.  One bedroom is finished now, it's amazing how a small dark room is now full of light and sunshine. Dark heavy curtains removed, sheer nets removed, flowered wallpaper painted over with two undercoats of white and two top coats of Resene Ricecake has made it a perfect blank canvas for a bit of styling when it comes to putting the house on the market.  I do hope to take some photos to share but still waiting for that elusive DSLR camera, ever hopeful that this Christmas I might be unwrapping one. I'll stop ranting on now and share this weeks discoveries with you..... This beautiful interior started out an empty ...

Christmas Inspiration 2012 - Yes, It's Not That Far Away

Image
Yesterday  was a busy day, first I battled the wind to do my weekly shop at La Cigale market . I usually always follow this with a latte and almond croissant at the market, but this week after over indulging at my sons 30th I decided to sacrifice the almond croissant and pop over to the monthly antiques fair in Avondale. On my way home I called by Corsa di Fiori looking for summer cushions for my living room and again had to battle the wind from my car to their front entrance. When I entered the shop I was surprised to see the normally overstocked shop looking far more sparse, I think the salesman saw my look of surprise and said, "oh were making room for Christmas"... "Christmas! I thought to myself, but it's only October, it's almost three months away". I then realised that 3 months is not long at all, and before we know it we will be making our Christmas cakes and rushing around doing last minute shopping. I have absolutely no idea where this year has gon...
