A Grade II Listed House in Esher

Image
Image via Forbes Rix Design Recently I have been drafting a post on sun rooms and conservatories and came across this beautiful space while researching images. Not content with 'waiting' to share this new post I decided to dedicate today's post to exploring a little more of this Grade II listed, home. Esher is a leafy suburb of Surrey not far actually from where my fathers side of the family live in the UK. A listed building means that the building has significant architectural importance that relate to its age and architecture, this means you can't simply add on or change things without council approval. Adding new windows may mean they are new but it is highly likely with a listed building that they have to be identical to the ones you're replacing. This lovely Grade II listed house has clearly been renovated, but definitely in keeping with its traditional architecture. Natalie Forbes and Louisa Rix are the brain child behind their small interior design company, F...

A Beach House Beauty by Blackband Design

Image
Another stunning beach style project by one of my favourite interior design company's, Blackband Design. This Newport Beach house has fabulous texture and colour and must be a dream come true to the home owner's. Blackband Design  have won the 'Best of Houzz' annually since 2014, which is not surprising as their designs are most definitely unique and their work very popular. I love how they mix styles of furniture, the way they incorporate colour and the textures they use in thier interiors.  This Newport Beach house is typical to Blackband's take on 'beach style' and incorporates all they are about. I hope you feel inspired by this lovely home, I especially love the black, bamboo table in the entrance way and the gorgeous vignette in the second image. If you are interested in Blackband Design taking on your project, please hop over to their website, Blackbanddesign.com or their Houzz site, (link above). With regards to my own beach house, the build has pro...

A Delightful Waterside Home by Banks Design Associates and Simply Home

Image
Literally on the waters edge, this pretty coastal home is a delight to the eye, so come on in and see more. Immediately I spotted this pretty porch with it's Gothic style, love seat, I fell in love, I wasn't quite sure what I would find within the exterior, however as it lay beside the water, I thought it may be a mix of traditional and coastal style and I was pretty well right. Using a traditional blue and white theme with touches of red, Linda Banks of  Banks Design Associates, and Simply Home  has given this classic home a coastal feel. With well over 20 years of experience behind her Linda has used her knowledge to create the perfect balance of old and new charm. If you would like to see more of Linda's work, please hop over to Banksdesign associates.com where you will also find a link to their large retail store in Maine. \

Introducing the Stunning new Bridgehampton Range of Fabrics and Wallpapers by Thibaut

Image
Above: Chair, 'Panthera', Navy Aptly named 'Bridgehampton', which is a small hamlet located on Long Island NY, Thibaut have a modern take on Hamptons style with their new Bridgehampton range. Described as "spirited, classic, carefree and bold" this gorgeous range truly packs some punch. The right mix of colour and pattern is essential to great interior design, mixing patterns and colours can take a boring space and turn it into something absolutely fabulous, so designers are going to love Thibaut's new   Bridgehampton  range. Designs are both traditional and contemporary from floral paisley styles to bold geometrics. The range of colours is stunning, traditional shades of blue in navy and soft aqua with contrasting pink and coral. Blue and white is definitely still my favourite combination, although I love their black and white colourway too. The patterns are designed to mix and match and it's obvious to me that this new range is going to be another wi...
