A Christmas House Tour

Image
I love to peek inside the homes of other bloggers, especially when they are decked out for the holidays, these talented people may not be trained interior designers, however, they are just as creative. Blogger Susan from Saw Nail & Paint has the most delightful cottage style house beautifully decked out for the holiday season. Susan has a passion for thrifting and creating beautiful things and these images of her house clearly showcase her skills both as a decorator and photographer (we bloggers need to be multi-skilled). Over at Susan's blog Saw, Nail & Paint ,  she writes about her DIY projects,  re-painting tired furniture and creative DIY ideas, all showcased by her beautiful photography. Susan's house has a country cottage feel and her holiday decor definitely features the traditional colours of Christmas she also celebrates Hanukkah . I hope you enjoy her lovely home, I am only posting a few images, you can view many more on her website, (link above),  ...

A Colourful Christmas House Tour

Image
Pops of pink (raspberry), gold and green are used throughout this home as a theme for their Christmas decorating. Maria Killam has designed this home for the holidays in raspberry and yellow with accents of green and I think it is fun, contemporary and perfectly suits this colourful home. Photography is by Tracey Ayton . Above: Carry your colour theme through to your Christmas wrapping paper for a cohesive look Above: don't overdo your decorations on a small table, often "less is best" Above: Work that mantel, it is the perfect spot to go crazy, allowing it to become a main focal point Above: You can buy cheap green foliage wreaths and add your own colourful baubles and decorative items, wiring them onto the wreath with florist wire. I am now thinking of adding a few blue baubles to my silver and green wreath which is on my front door Above: Wreaths can be any shape, a simple square of foliage gives a different look Above: Pink and gold look fantastic together  Above: Us...

Image
Keeping it simp le with candy stripe ribbon - Image by  Tobi Fairley Interior Design   My Christmas decorations are usually out in full force by now but due to a recent health scare in the family, I am totally unprepared for Christmas and haven't done a thing. Everything is ok now 'health-wise', so I have been madly perusing the web for some ideas for this year. Some are traditional, others a little bit different, I hope you enjoy the mix. Don't forget to decorate your mantel, it is the perfect spot to draw attention too - Image Photo by AM Dolce Vita  Using Fresh foliage is always a winner -  Photo by AM Dolce Vita Traditional styling of this entrance way -  Photo by René Zieg Scandi, white and relaxed -  Photo by Julie Ranee Photography   A clever way with hats -  Photo by Julie Ranee Photography   Sometimes less is best -  Photo by Rikki Snyder   Pomegranates are the perfect Christmas red. Beyond this Facade - Lies a Garden Guest House

Image
Beyond the facade of this Stockbridge townhouse, lies a charming, garden, guest cottage, I currently have an obsession with garden buildings after completing a garden studio of my own. Whether it's a guest cottage, an artist retreat, pool shed or "she/he shed" scenario, I believe everyone can benefit of such a space. The guest cottage's interior is designed by Stephenie Dunning , Stephanie's portfolio "ranges from UK country homes and houses in central London, a villa on Lake Como and a fabulous home in Mustique". Stephanie's background reflects a well travelled designer who draws inspiration from her travels for her lovely designs. With regards to the pool/guest cottage in the grounds of this home, Stephanie has pared back the style of the main house, for a more relaxed, cottage atmosphere. Every home, should have a relaxing patio no matter how large or small it is. When I lived in Qatar I had the tiniest balcony (only 3 tiles wide) but I managed to...
