Unique Gifts and Homeware

Image
1. Fur and Flowers dog doormat - US$25 Often it is hard to find that perfect gift or special item for the home that is not mass produced, so when I discovered  an on-line store with unique gifts that ship many of their products world wide, I had to share the love. Uncommon Goods , is an E-store dedicated to shopping unusual items for the home, gifts for family and friends and the fur babies so many of us dote on. It is a breath of fresh air to discover a company that offers items that are unique, many of which are artisan made. Uncommon Goods offer a wide range of decorative pieces for the home , from beautiful pillows to quirky doormats, there is something for everyone, including those sometimes difficult to find gifts for co-workers .  Uncommon Goods are also caring when it comes to "sustainability, the environment and their social responsibilities". They are also proud to say that their lowest paid seasonal workers are paid 50% more than the minimum wage. I love a website ...

Designers Guild - William Yeoward Philippine Wallpapers

Image
1 I can't get enough blue and white in my home, so when I saw Designers Guild's William Yeoward Philippine Wallpapers, it was instant love and instant "want". I haven't quite worked out why  William Yeoward have named this range "Philippine Wallpapers", possibly they are printed in the Philippines but I do feel some of the designs are reminiscent of the hand blocked indigenous fabrics I saw when I lived in SE Asia.  They describe their new designs as "large scale and unique, geometric, floral, striped designs. What is definitely unique about them is the range of printing techniques used to produce these papers, some even appear hand blocked. The range consists of a mix of "dramatic modern florals, textural stripes and geometric tiling". The colour palette covers hues of rich indigo and includes more earthy tones reminding me of the ochre hue I often use in my floral paintings. 2 3 4 5  6  7 8 I don't know about you but I have definite...

Indah Island's Blue and White Style

Image
If you follow my blog you will know I am totally obsessed by blue and white interiors, a timeless combination that never fails to transport me to holiday mode. This week while searching for some new inspiration, I came across designers Indah Island, who have a wonderful, tropical feel about their work. Indah Island is run by Director Natalee Bowen. Natalie has over 20 years experience in the design industry. Much travelled, Natalie has a love for Hamptons and Cape Cod styles which feature widely in her projects. Indah Island however, is not just about the interior but the whole project from initial architectural concepts to the the build and interior design, a full project management approach. Natalee obviously has a love of blue and white, as do her clients. Today I wanted to feature images from a few projects Indah Island have worked on, they depict the relaxed, holiday feel that seems to come freely with Hamptons style of decorating. Of course you can't have Hamptons without bl...
